This is not your regular Ilkal.

This is 100% pure silk handloom Ilkal from Bagalkot  not the cotton-silk mix you see everywhere. Every single thread is silk, handwoven on pit-looms using a tradition that has existed since the 8th century. GI-tagged. Kondi-joined. Irreducible.

On it: Kasuti from Dharwad  a 7th-century counted embroidery that was historically done on black silk for brides. No tracing. No knots. No wrong side. Just hand-counted peacocks placed stitch by stitch on pure silk, exactly as they have been for over a thousand years.

The lehenga body is a deep forest green pure silk Ilkal, woven with handloom peacock motifs across the body and a bold magenta-and-gold zari border at the hem  the unmistakable signature of a true Ilkal weave. Over it falls a matching magenta silk dupatta with a woven gold zari border, draped across the shoulder in the traditional style. The blouse is deep forest green silk, heavily hand-embroidered across the yoke, neckline and sleeves with Kasuti peacock work, finished with a U-back with gold tassel tie closure.
