This lehenga is Handloom Ilkal  a cotton-silk blend woven in Ilkal, Bagalkot, Karnataka. The borders are our ode to Lambani — the vibrant hand-embroidery of the Banjara community who have called Karnataka home for centuries.

Nomadic at heart, settled in North Karnataka, Lambani women are known for their bold geometric stitches, mirror work, coins, and color  14 distinct stitches passed down generations, traditionally embroidered on everyday textiles to carry memory, protection, and joy.

This piece is not embroidered by Lambani women, but hand-embroidered by artisans from our region, inspired by their craft story. The borders feature Lambani-inspired geometric embroidery and Kasuti thread work — Karnataka's own counted-thread embroidery tradition — woven together into a single, layered textile story.
